Come mid winter, we’re all ready for a bit of a getaway. There’s the classic getaways- Hawaii, Florida, The Bahamas, etc.
But who says you have to go somewhere tropical to treat yo’self? I’m tellin’ you guys- HOT SPRINGS are where its at. And there are amazing hot springs scattered all across the country!
We were traveling recently to visit some family and found that the Pagosa Hot Springs were *somewhat* along the way. So we took a bit of a detour over to Pagosa Springs (in Southern Colorado)-and guys. It was a DREAM.
Pagosa Springs is this adorable mountain town nestled in the San Juan Mountains. And in the heart of it-just off of mainstreet-the most amazing hot springs. The springs offer twenty-three different pools for you to soak in (!!) And if you’re feeling bold (I wasn’t)-you can cool off in the frigid river running along the edge of the resort.
Not gonna lie it felt a little bizarre stripping down to my swimsuit in 25 degree weather-but the springs felt sooo good in contrast to the cold air.
Rumor has it the minerals in the water have healing properties! And although I can’t say I was cured from any illness or condition- I did feel my stress melting away in the steamy water.
Tip: Get there early in the morning! For one, because you’ll have more time to spend there and less people to deal with-but also because it’s just magical to see the steam rolling off the water in the early morning sun. Then once you’ve spent all day relaxing in the springs-head over to “The Lost Cajun” restaurant for some fresh beignets (yum!)
