Your Body Shape
Although a cliche analogy, it’s true. People are like snowflakes. No, I’m not saying people are snowflakes in the negative “sissy” way-I’m talking about the way that EVERY single body on earth (or that has ever been on earth) is built DIFFERENT.
Just like snowflakes, there is no “correct” way a body should look.
There’s just different ways they look! Isn’t that beautiful that we all have our own perfectly unique bodies?
All body shapes and sizes are beautiful and you’re free to wear whatever you want!
However, there are certain clothing styles that really compliment some body shapes, but may not be flattering on other body types!
This is why it can be really helpful to know what your body shape is-so you know what type of cuts and styles look best on you, and what styles to avoid!
So here’s a quick guide to help you find your body shape! Of course, these are not all the possible body types, just the most common!
Once you know your body shape, you can focus on looking for styles that compliment your body.
TIP: I like finding celebrities with the same body shape as me, then I can see how they dress to flatter their body and draw inspiration from them!
Rectangle Shape
Definition: Women with rectangle body shapes have very even, proportional builds. It it typically defined by having a waist measurement that is less than 9 inches smaller than the hip or bust measurements-so weight it evenly distributed throughout the body.
How to Style this body shape: Look for styles that bring your waist in! Accents such ties at the waist are super flattering on these body types.

Triangle Shape
Definition: Also commonly referred to as a pear body shape, women with this body type have hips that are wider than their bust. They typically have a defined waist, and proportionately slim arms and shoulders. Weight is distributed more in the lower body (bottom and legs) than in the upper body.

Hourglass Shape
Definition: Women with this body shape have hip and bust measurements that are nearly equal in size, with a narrower waist measurement. I think it’s important to note that while this is often viewed as the most coveted body shape, it’s actually the least common body shape! Only about 8% of women are shaped this way- so there’s nothing wrong with not having an hourglass figure.
How to Style this Body Shape: Look for styles that are more snug or accentuate your waist, but without adding extra bulk to your bust or hips!

Apple Shape
Definition: Also known as an “inverted triangle”, women with this body typically have broader shoulders and bust, and narrower hips with a less defined waist.
How to Style this Body Shape: Look for styles that draw attention to your your lower body and hips such as ruffles or A-Line cuts! Generally, avoid styled that draw attention to your bust or shoulders.
