My Top Ten Healthy Summer Snacks

Posted by Jenna Duncan on

Food is my weakness. Forget “you had me at hello”--you had me at snacks. Food has been my greatest super power, and also my kryptonite. I’m a Class A snacker which has proven to be detrimental in a lot of different ways--my weight, my skin, my mental health, everything comes down to what you’re putting into your body! So believe me when I say I’ve been through the wringer trying to find yummy, healthy snacks that won’t break the bank. I have listed here my Top Ten Healthy Summer Snacks. And there is something for everyone!

#1 Frosted Grapes

Top 10 Healthy Summer Snacks-Frosted Grapes

This recipe is one of my favorite takes on a simple healthy treat! It is gluten free and beyond easy! All you need is your favorite grape (I prefer green) and sugar. This snack is super kid friendly and absolutely delicious on a hot day! I love these frozen, so if you’re wanting this treat cold, be sure to prep ahead of time!

 Ingredients:
3 cups grapes
1 cup white granulated sugar, divided
½ cup water

#2 Frozen Yogurt Dots

Top 10 Healthy Summer Snacks-Frozen Yogurt Bites

Another frozen treat for my friends who prefer the sweet over the savory! This snack is another one that takes a bit of forethought, but trust me it is worth it! Extremely kid friendly, especially for those kiddos under 4, but who says you need kids to enjoy frozen yogurt drops?? Just pick your favorite kind of yogurt and have at it! My favorite brand is Noosa! **Certain yogurts are more runny than others so pick one that you can “drop”!

Ingredients:
Yogurt--this is up to you!! My top pick is strawberry rhubarb Noosa yogurt.

  #3 Chocolate Dipped Banana Bites

Top 10 Healthy Summer Snacks-Chocolate Dipped Bananas

These are to DIE FOR! I can honestly say I am in love with this super easy summer snack. It’s the perfect thing when you are craving something sweet but don’t want to reach for that handy ice cream tub. Again, another one of those prep ahead of time treats IF you want them frozen! I love them frozen because in the Summer, I just want to stay cool! Plus, they’re one of those treats that you can make WAY healthy or pull out all the stops for.

Ingredients:
3 bananas
⅓ cup nut butter (my favorites are cashew and almond!)
½ cup chocolate chips (I love dark chocolate so this is my pick!)
2 teaspoons coconut oil

#4 Homemade Fruit Roll-ups

Top 10 Healthy Summer Snacks-Homemade Fruit Rollups

As a kid I adored fruit roll-ups. To be completely honest, I still do. But they are packed with all kinds of additives and sugars and words I can’t pronounce. What better though than an easy homemade fruit roll-up made out of fresh fruits! And the kicker? It’s a great healthy alternative! My favorite here is a two-ingredient (yes, TWO INGREDIENTS!) recipe.

Ingredients:
2 cups strawberries
1 cup applesauce
